5 Things to do when you get STUCK!

 WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL STUCK

Have you ever had periods or even moments in your life, where you just feel stuck? You do not really know which direction to take, not sure what you should be doing with your life, or how you should be spending your time?

If you answered yes, you are not alone. It happens to all of us, and it even happened to me this week with work. 

It can happen in all areas of your life, your relationships, your work, your health, fitness, and personal growth. 

The first thing I want to mention is this is not a negative thing or a signal that something isn't right. It's an invitation and opportunity to look deeper into that area and see what you really want and need. 

Here are 5 go-to options when I feel stuck and unsure. 

1. Meditation 

Meditation brings up a lot of mixed emotions in many different people. I myself never understood why people did it. So if you feel like that, don't skip to the next point just yet. Whether you consider yourself bad or even awful at meditation, it can still be a massive help, to sit in silence let all the noise come up, be aware of it and then attempt to let it go, and have some space in your mind when everything can feel like a disorganized jig-saw with some pieces missing. 

I am no expert at meditation but have practiced regularly now for over a year, and the benefits I have experienced are what keep me going. 

When you feel lost and there are too many or too few options in your mind, silence it and see what happens. 

2. Journaling 

The most lost I have ever felt in life was after having my children (twins). I did not really understand my new life and new routines, I was not sure where I wanted to go or even who I wanted to be. 

By writing down these thoughts the pen and paper led me to more and more of them that eventually opened up to what deep down I really needed for myself.

3. Get Outside in Nature

Honestly the cure for so many things, but being outside puts things back in perspective. It gives you space. Getting out in nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, but also contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones.

Take a walk, go somewhere new, leave your phone behind, go with a friend, whatever you enjoy.

4. Take a break

This applies to all areas of your life. Whether you are stuck fighting in a relationship, having a creative block at work, frustrated, or fed up with the dating apps. TAKE A BREAK.  Stop doing what you are doing, for a day, a week, whatever you need, but take a full break.

Me, I felt blocked at work this week so I switched my laptop off, turned off Instagram, and had a complete break from work so I could come back fresh with new ideas and creativity. 

If this is something difficult for you, actively schedule this into your diary to ensure it happens. 

5. Speak to a coach

We always have the answer, but sometimes, we just can't find it by ourselves. Some of the things my coach has helped me with the most are moments when I feel stuck. I am going back and forth and strongly believe I do not know what the answer is, but when asked the RIGHT question, all the pieces fall back together again. 

Like journaling it's a private space, you get to hear and have your thoughts reflected ack to you with no judgment so you can get UNSTUCK.
